The Parish Church of Saint Hilda, Bilsborrow

Although St Hilda's was only consecrated in 1927 it has the appearence of a much older foundation. The foundation stone was laid by the then Bishop of Manchester, William Temple, who went on to become one of the outstanding Archbishops of York and Canterbury in the 20th century. The architects were Austin and Paley of Lancaster and the attention to detail to be found in the stonework is of great interest.
